About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced and visionary VFX Director / VFX Supervisor / Creative Director to lead the creative and technical execution of high-end visual effects projects across films, OTT content, commercials, and international productions. The ideal candidate will combine artistic excellence with technical expertise, driving innovative visual storytelling while managing large-scale VFX pipelines, teams, and vendor collaborations.
As the Indian VFX industry continues to evolve into a global production hub, this role requires a forward-thinking leader who is comfortable working with cutting-edge technologies, including Virtual Production, Real-Time Rendering Engines (Unreal Engine), and AI-integrated post-production workflows.
Key Responsibilities-
Creative Vision & Direction :
- Collaborate closely with Film Directors, Producers, Cinematographers, and Creative Teams to define and execute the visual language of projects.
- Establish the overall VFX creative strategy and ensure seamless integration of visual effects with live-action footage.
- Maintain consistency in visual quality, storytelling, and artistic standards throughout the production lifecycle.
- Provide creative solutions for complex visual challenges while balancing artistic and production requirements.
Pre-Production Planning :
- Lead script breakdowns, VFX assessments, feasibility studies, and cost estimations.
- Develop storyboards, animatics, pre-visualization (Previs), and virtual production plans.
- Identify technical requirements, resource allocation, and pipeline needs during project planning.
- Participate in creative reviews and planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Mentorship :
- Lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary teams including:
- 3D Artists
- Compositors
- FX Artists
- CG Supervisors
- Technical Directors (TDs)
- Virtual Production Teams
- Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Conduct reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure delivery of high-quality outputs.
Production Supervision :
- Oversee end-to-end VFX production from concept through final delivery.
- Ensure shots meet creative, technical, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot production challenges and implement efficient workflow solutions.
- Coordinate across departments to maintain project timelines and delivery milestones.
Budgeting & Vendor Management :
- Evaluate vendor proposals, bids, and technical capabilities.
- Manage VFX budgets, resource planning, and project schedules.
- Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international VFX vendors and production partners.
- Monitor project costs, risks, and delivery performance to ensure successful project execution.
Technology & Innovation :
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies, including:
- Unreal Engine-based Virtual Production workflows
- Real-time rendering technologies
- AI-assisted compositing and post-production tools
- Advanced simulation and procedural workflows
- Contribute to pipeline optimization and process improvements.
- Stay updated with global VFX trends, tools, and production methodologies.
Requirements & Qualifications, Experience :-
- 10–15 years of proven experience in Film, Television, OTT, or Commercial VFX production.
- Graduate in films or creative arts or any graduate with specialisation course.
- Prior experience as a Senior Artist, CG Supervisor, Technical Director, VFX Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale VFX projects from pre-production through final delivery.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of industry-standard tools including:
- Autodesk Maya
- Houdini
- Nuke
- Unreal Engine
- ShotGrid or equivalent production tracking platforms
- Strong understanding of CG pipelines, compositing, rendering, simulations, and virtual production workflows.
- Familiarity with AI-driven creative and post-production tools is highly desirable.
